On Thursday (May 16), the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the city's popular monthly transit pass, Climate Card, will be made available to tourists in short-term options. Currently, a Climate Card costs 62,000 won (US$45.60) for a month's use – allowing its user unlimited access to Seoul-based subway lines and Seoul-licensed transit/town buses. A 65,000 won option extends the usage to Ttareungi bicycles – Seoul's bicycle sharing system.

From Jul 1, tourists can enjoy the Climate Card in four options:

• One-day pass (5,000 won, US$3.70)
• Two-day pass (8,000 won)
• Three-day pass (10,000 won)
• Five-day pass (15,000 won)

Tourists can buy physical Climate Cards at the following locations:

• Seoul Tourism Plaza Information Centre
• Myeongdong Tourist Information Centre
• Customer Safety Offices of Lines 1 to 8

Do note that the mobile version of the Climate Card is only available to those with a South Korean resident registration number, or a foreign resident registration number, and debit or credit cards issued by South Korean banks.

Climate Card holders can also enjoy other benefits including 50 per cent off admission fees to the Seoul Science Centre and Seoul Grand Park.
